We have some people coming out to put in some insulation at the house today. The catch was that they needed to get into the crawlspace in the attic above the garage. The problem is that my garage looked…well, have you every seen footage of a neighborhood after a tornado has come through?
It was in the worst shape it had ever been in during our entire 12 years in our home. Basically, we just had piled stuff on top of stuff (on top of stuff) and found every convenient excuse to avoid cleaning it. Unfortunately for me, my excuses ran out and it was up to me to clean it.
I looked at the garage and was overwhelmed — where would I begin. I figured the best place to start was by throwing away as much as I could. I found old chairs, old toys and car seats that my son wouldn’t ever be using again, old computer parts that were long-f0rgotten and pounds and pounds of miscellaneous trash.
After I had gotten out the trash, I began reorganizing some contents of the garage so that you could actually see the floor again and got to sweeping out the dirt and debris that had accumulated.
It took the better part of 5 hours but, I was done (I still have some shelves to tackle but, things look a LOT better in there.
Today, I woke up feeling like I do after a hard workout and it hit me — I did have a workout. I did a lot of lifting and made a lot of walking trips back and forth the the curb, carrying trash. I also had a lot of bend and stretching from the cleaning and rearranging had done.
Unbeknownst to me, I had quite the workout yesterday and didn’t have to hit the gym to do it. Sometimes, a good workout can come from the most unexpected places.
