Well, sort of…
Australian foodie Deborah Schipper has come up with a four-week program called “The Cake Cleanse” diet but, it’s probably not what you think it is. This is not a time to hit your local bakery or stuff your cart full of Duncan-Hines boxes or Hostess treats. Instead, it’s about getting your sweets fix with healthier alternatives.
I have to admit, when I read an article about this, I was both skeptical and intrigued but, something she said spoke to me:
“I love sweets and I knew I could never give them up – life is there to enjoy food and I wanted to enjoy food but didn’t want to give up the foods that I loved.”
I have a bit of a sweet tooth — okay, a full-blown sugar addiction. I am trying to wean myself off sugar and something like this could help.
The idea is to replace some of the more processed/harmful ingredients in desserts with more natural, yet enjoyable, alternatives. So, it involves mixing in fruit, and, apparently, even some vegetables, using healthier flours, substituting sugar with stevia, etc. To create tasty, quick and easy-to-create desserts to complement your healthy meals. Heck, we are even talking cupcakes and brownies, here!
From what I can surmise, you can either purchase the program and recipe book together for $55 US or the recipe book alone for $30 US. Recipes like these might be just what we need to curb those cravings and keep us focused on our fitness goals.
