Going Raw (Almost): Reaching the finish line

I made it!

I did what I set out to do an ate raw for a week.  The funny thing is that, now that I can have anything I want, I really don’t want that much.  I thought about all the options I have and decided that I need to keep raw food as an ongoing part of my diet.  I just felt better after eating more fruits and vegetables than I do after eating a steak or some ribs.  I know to some this sounds weird but, I was a little grossed out at the thought of a sausage patty or a biscuit this morning so, I went with a different approach.  I had a bowl of oatmeal,  two strips of bacon, a banana and a pear for breakfast.  For lunch, I had shrimp, green beans and an apple.

I’ve decided to set a goal of making half of what I eat raw foods.  It’s way too easy to pick up a meal and the only “vegetables” would be the slices of lettuce, onion and pickle on the burger (okay, I guess french fries are technically potatoes).  So, I need to make a concerted effort to put real fruits and vegetables on my plate or in my bowl.  Eating raw will virtually guarantee that this happens.

Okay, o, technically, I didn’t cross the “finish line” but, instead, completed a tough leg of my race.  Hopefully, a second wind has kicked in and I can keep going.
