I already shared by Saturday with you but, let me tell you about yesterday. Before church, I had a quick breakfast of Fiber One cereal, 3 strips of turkey bacon, orange juice and around 12 ounces of coffee. But, that was breakfast.
Lunch was a turkey burger, macaroni and cheese and 12 ounces of Coke. Did you notice the lack of a mention of a fruit or vegetable there?
Not to be outdone by lunch, let’s talk dinner. I grilled a half-rack of spare ribs and a whole chicken (cut up). To go along with that, I made potato salad and my wife made green beans. So, for dinner, I had ribs (three bones), a chicken thigh, mustard potato salad and green beans and another 12 ounce Coke. Then I had a few Pocky sticks (if you haven’t had them, I encourage you to finds some — they’re great) and, later, a chocolate pudding and some grapes.
So, if your counting, I had one real helping of vegetables and about 1/4 -1/2 helping of fruit. I had quite a bit of fat and carbs (from the macaroni and cheese, ribs, chicken and Miracle Whip on the potato salad). I also had 24 ounces of Coke so, I’m sure all that sugar was of no help.. To top it off, there was very little activity on my part. Granted, there was a time where I would have eaten twice as much but, really, would it have killed me to have a salad before dinner?
Personally, I think I overindulged yesterday. It’s time to recalibrate.
